CHOOSING THE RIGHT EQUESTRIAN BRACELET
I recently had a customer call me looking for a gift to take to Europe for a young rider. He had randomly chosen a western stirrup bracelet. We chatted for a while and I asked him several questions. This prompted him to change his purchase to an English snaffle bracelet along with a snaffle slide necklace. I included a personalized note to the young rider along with packaging and a gift bag and shipped it over night. When it arrived, he called me to thank me. It was a good experience for both of us.
I really enjoy talking to my customers. Don't always rely on emails....pick up the phone. I can help you find the right gift for the right person! Everyone of my horse bracelets, earrings, pendants, necklaces and rings can be customized!

EQUESTRIAN NECKLACES WITH A SOUTHWESTERN FLAIR
I have been busy creating new equestrian jewelry with a southwestern flair. Combining copper with the earthy tones of the matrix in the turquoise creates a stunning look! One of the necklaces has an outline of two interlocking horse heads. It is also available in sterling silver on a simple black or brown leather cord or chain.

APPRASIALS FOR HORSE JEWELRY
I highly recommend having an appraisal for each piece of valuable jewelry. I have been contacted by several customers who have had their jewelry lost or stolen and needed proof of their purchase. Your insurance carrier uses the appraisal to determine the cost of replacement.
Be sure that the appraiser is certified as a Gemologist, Appraiser and Diamond Grader.
They will provide an image of the item and describe it's features ie:

MAKING NEW JEWELRY FROM OLD JEWELRY
A great weekend. I spent Sat. morning in the studio composing patterns with the new beads I purchased at the stone show. Lots of fun and a nice creative break! I will post some pictures tomorrow of the necklaces I made. A couple of Horse related necklaces and some very cool Southwestern Necklaces and Florida Keys type pieces.
Today I would like to talk about using your old jewelry to create new jewelry. It is a wonderful time to trade in your old gold for cash. If you intend to do this, make sure the items are not historic pieces worth considerable sums of money. Then, shop the items around. Different stores will offer different prices. When you have made a decision, have them carefully remove the stones and return them to you. You can use them in your new designs.
I do not use the old gold to cast new jewelry because the old solder and imperfections in the pieces can cause pitting in the new piece. It is just not worth the risk!
Somtimes you can use several smaller diamonds to give the illusion of a larger diamond.
A women had been given her boyfriends mothers ring. She commissioned me to make her a ring however she wanted a larger diamond. These are the before and after images. You are only limited by your imagination!

GETTING STARTED
To begin the process of design you must understand what you are comfortable with. Do you gravitate to the modern styles, contemporary lines and shapes? Are you more drawn to the traditional appearance of jewelry.
Do you do you prefer larger, heavier pieces or smaller more refined pieces.
The element of color is also important. Some people choose diamonds which add sparkle while others choose precious colored stones to accent certain designs.
If you are thinking of a ring design you should examine your finger and decide how wide you would like the shank or band and whether you would like it tapered at the back for comfort.
You must also decide on the finish the metal will have. Finishes create contrast and can be very effective. High polish, sand blasted which leaves a soft matte look or diamond burred which creates a light sparkle.
The next aspect to consider is where and when you are going to wear your piece. Is it just for fun? Is it for formal occasions ? Do you wish to wear it everyday? Is it practical for your employment?
What would you like it to represent. I once made a ring for a customer with Dandy Dinmont Terrier's and Horse Hitching Posts (incorporated in the logo for her stable) around the shank. One lovely couple combined their interests in wedding bands with horse heads and sail boats.
Cost will also be a factor. It is best to set a budget or limit on what you are comfortable spending at the onset of the project.
When you have considered all of the above call me. I would appreciate the opportunity to work with you. Custom designing and crafting allows me to grow as an artist. it is an exciting journey.
